CIM - Chartered Institute of Marketing

 

The City College is an accredited centre for preparing students for the Professional Certificate and Professional Diploma in Marketing. It is the aim of The City College to receive accreditation for the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing as well in the near future.

Professional Certificate in Marketing

 

Aimed at those who are in junior marketing positions and aspire to a career in marketing and also at personnel moving into marketing from other backgrounds. Many of those who enrol will be Marketing or Personal Assistants.

Entrance Requirements

1. Age 18 or over with two GCE Advanced Levels or equivalent.
2. Age 19 or over with a minimum of one year’s full time work experience in marketing.
3. Introductory Certificate in Marketing/Foundation Certificate in Marketing.
4. NVQ or SVQ Level 2 in any other subject.
5. Other appropriate qualifications approved by CIM.

Professional Diploma in Marketing

 

Aimed at marketers concerned with managing the marketing process at an operational level, as well as those who are looking to build on knowledge gained at Certificate level with a future marketing management role in mind.

Entrance Requirements

Students must meet one or more of the following:
1. CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing/CIM Certificate in Marketing Management Practice.
2. A Bachelor or Postgraduate degree.
3. EdExcel (BTEC) Higher National Certificate/Diploma in any subject (UK).
4. NVQ or SVQ Level 3 in Marketing (UK).
5. NVQ or SVQ Level 4 in any other subject (UK).
6. Other appropriate qualifications approved by CIM.
7. 3 years work experience in a marketing manager role.

Assessment

Assessment is based on examinations held externally in June and December each year. Although, continuous assessment is available for some of the modules, City College does not offer this option at present and students registered with the college would have to take examinations for each module.

Important note: Students must register with the Chartered Institute of Marketing before they can apply for entry to the examinations.

 

Mode of Study

The Professional Certificate and Professional Diploma are available by Distance Learning only. Distance Learning is a way of providing students with a supported learning environment without the need for direct face to face tuition. However, this method of learning requires commitment, self-discipline and effective time management. The flexibility of distance learning gives you the freedom to decide when and where to study, so students are not tied to attending classes that might be held at an inconvenient time or place.

Duration

There is no fixed duration of the CIM programmes, but students should manage their time effectively to ensure that they are well prepared before the examination dates.
