All students, especially if new to London, may rely on the readiness of our staff to assist them with any problems they may face throughout their studies. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere encourages students to approach the Principal, Directors or Welfare Officer for assistance.
International students will find the services of the Welfare Officer particularly useful when they need to register with a doctor, open a bank account or deal with immigration matters.
Medical
When you first arrive in a new country, it can be easy to concentrate on your studies and forget about taking care of your health. But any health problems can be made worse by the effects of adjusting to a different climate, unfamiliar food and the emotional strains of being away from home.
The National Health Service is the United Kingdom’s health service which provides treatment for UK residents through a wide range of health care services. Some services are free, and some you will have to pay for. If your course of study is for six months or more you will qualify for NHS treatment from the beginning of your stay on the same basis as anyone who is ordinarily a resident of the UK.
It is important to register with a local doctor (GP) when you arrive in the UK. If you have problems finding a GP, please ask the Welfare Officer for help. If you become ill before you are able to register with a GP you can visit the ‘Accident and Emergency’ or ‘Urgent Care’ department at any hospital or attend your nearest NHS Walk-In Centre.
It is advised you visit the NHS website for any more information.
